Current car development time as measured from concept approval to Job 1, is anywhere from 2 to 5 years, with an average of 3 years. But pressure is already on and will only increase to reduce this development time in order to achieve the optimal 12-month car. Meanwhile, the uptake of alternative powertrains (electric, hybrid) is growing quickly, thereby increasing the complexity of the vehicle and its development time cycle.
It’s well accepted that multi-domain modeling is critical for designing the “system of systems” for future vehicles. Traditionally, Tecnalia has used commercially-available tools for their modeling and simulation needs. (Scanner, Oktal, Adams CAR, Carsim..). However, for the development of advanced systems commercially-available tools were too-often insufficient.
With that as backdrop, for the last 5 years, TECNALIA has been working on vehicle models adapted to specific characteristics using Labview real time for its easy integration into development and validation software. The result is a multi-domain and open architecture for the integration of vehicle systems & components. The result is Dynacar.
